Palla Aluete is no story teller. Her words are geared towards the immediate: sights, sounds, and all the other sensations felt when attuned to the surroundings. She is a scout and hunter by nature: all her senses are geared towards observing her surroundings and perceptions of outcomes. She strives to leave as little trace in the natural world as possible, to cause the least disturbance in the natural balance of life. Her speech was soft and quiet, but firm, and it carried over the crackling of the flames to reach all ears who cared to listen.
“The cave lion is our totem, our kindred spirit. We are bound to the cave lion in this world and the others, who in days past spared our grand parents and shared the shelter of the caves. Thus we became one people. Now the rocks have fallen. We lost our caves and we wander. Our numbers are few and we seek new caves for our lions, but many seasons have brought nothing but want and worry.”
